Microphone Tests

Now admit it--you are always looking for that supreme Holy Grail--the ultimate microphone that makes you sound like a supreme being. A sound that will melt butter, instantly seduce the opposite sex, convince anyone that hears your voice that what you are saying is the most important thing in their life.

The problem with comparing microphones is you will sound totally different than anyone else on the same mic. That's why we get so frustrated when we hear a cohort on a new mic that sounds sooo good, we just have to try. Yet we continue to search for the perfect mic that makes us sound perfect.

Here, we will look at several possibilities and look at the pros and cons of each option available to us. We will talk to the experts that understand and build mics if possible. The bottom line is: How do they sound and how much is the investment. If a manufacturer or builder is interested in sharing his product, let me know. If you have suggestions--please, let me know.

Click on our blog to get the score-card and timely updates on what's next.

Keep it fair. Mics are mostly tested here unprocessed. Which means each can sound vastly improved with even just a little compression. Everyone's processing chain may be different and that's why we are trying to keep the playing field even.

Stay Tuned and let me hear from you.
